What is Domestic Violence?

Definition: Domestic violence is a pattern of repeated physical, sexual, and psychological (emotional) manipulation and coercion to keep control and power over a family member, roommate, domestic partner, or a dating partner.

  • Emotional abuse
  • Economic abuse
  • Coercion and Threats
  • Intimidation
  • Use of Children
  • Isolation
  • Jealousy and Blame to Justify Actions
  • Spiritual Abuse

Physical, sexual, psychological/emotional and financial abuse is a crime!

Domestic Violence and Deafness

People with hearing loss are at higher risk of being long-term victims of domestic violence and sexual assault due to the lack of accessible services.
